3 Shades Black is Melbourne’s newest contemporary music ensemble, aiming to make experimental classical music accessible and transparent to a new audience.
The ensemble is made up of young professional musicians who have studied contemporary music and performance at a high level.
3 Shades’ first show is “Moving Scores” in the Melbourne Fringe Festival, Oct 1st. Our second show will be part of the Midsumma Festival, details to be announced soon.

Dear 3 Shades Black,
My name is Di Human. I’m a visual artist and fellow Fringe Performer. And I’d like to paint your show!
My mission is to document the 2012 Melbourne Fringe Festival, in the form of acrylic-on-canvas paintings, painted at various performances (or rehearsals). I wish to spend the duration of your performance capturing the show, the characters, audience, colour, music, movement and atmosphere. The painting will then become part of the exhibition ‘Painting It Live’, which will run at Revolt Art Space for the duration of the festival.
